Kevin Montgomery Needs a Ride in Henry's Fork (Please help if you know someone)

Racer update about:

Hey, this is Kevin Montgomery. I'm on a highway in Henry's Lake, ID. I tore my achilles tendon on my right leg this morning out by Lakeview. It took me four hours to hitch a ride off the plain. I'm kinda stuck out here. This is definitely the end of my race. It is very swollen. Hurts to walk, hurts to bike. Looks like I've done some pretty significant damage to my leg. So anyways I’m done and I'm probably going to have to sleep out here since no one wants to pick up dirty bikers, but if anyone knows someone in this area of ID that wouldn’t mind give me a ride that would be pretty nice, no one seems to want to do it. Alright, good luck everyone doing the Tour Divide and Great Divide Race. Hope you fair better than my leg did. Bye.

Note from Sherry: I called Henry’s Fork Lake Lodge. They do not have fire/police there, only volunteer, and their clinic is closed. The lady I spoke to is going to tell everyone leaving the lodge to look for Kevin and pick him up. I’ll try to google to see if there is any other place around. Does anyone know someone in this area?

I don't know anyone but...

I did google the henry's fork and apparently it is famous for one thing,
fly fishing for trout!
My advice would be to buy, beg borrow or make a pole at the lodge and soak your foot n the cold running water 20 minutes every two hours and catch some fish might be the high point of your trip.
Good luck!
Keep posting if you need travel arrangements.

No matter who wins, I think you ALL will learn something about yourselves on this trip.

ride for Kevin

Has Kevin been able to find a ride yet ? and where does he need to go? I might be able to help-have family in Idaho but i need to know more.

Ride for Kevin

His SPOT dot is on the move so I think he must have a ride. He has past Alan and Dominik now. The hard thing is I don't have any way to contact him to confirm. But I've been watchinghis SPOT dot and he is moving now from the location at which he called in. So I think that is good news. We'll have to see if he calls in again.

Kevin found a ride

I just talked to Kevin. He got a ride to Idaho Falls. He is going to rent a car, look for a doctor, and then head back to San Francisco.

Good Job Kevin

Kevin, Good work on the race. Being unable to complete is hard but the opportunity I'm sure was awesome. Prayers for a speedy recovery. You ran an awesome race.

Bad luck!

Sorry to hear of your injury causing your retirement. I'm just glad you knew when to call it quits.

Good luck for the trip home, I hope somebody helps you out and that you're back on your bike soon.

Next year!
