At the time of this writing, Michael is just past Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  It sounds like he's got some good momentum going, which is amazing considering the challenges he faced at the beginning of this race.

One comment to a blog entry indicated that Michael's first four call-ins are truly inspirational.  Apparently, his intial calls got lost, but he re-capped his early trials in tribulations in some follow up calls and so we'll upload the first of them in this post.

Things didn't start out so good for him.  Michael's bicycle was lost in UPS tracking and it didn't show up in time for him to start the race with everyone else.  Listen to this first recording to get a sense of how difficult it was to watch everyone prepare for the race and how an amazing balloon loving individual known only as "Crazy Larry" helped give Michael a proper send-off for the race (and even tagged along for part of the first leg).

Go Mike!  Go Crazy Larry!
