Race Update Monday June 16, 2008 7AM

Race Fans, we are going to attempt to provide a daily commentary by former racer Alex Field who unfortunately was not able to race this year. Here is Alex's first installment:

Update: Monday the 16th 7am
Its Monday morning and the end of the third day on the trail. Matthew Lee and Reubin Kline are in the lead and have been riding together for most of the way. Ardie Olson is not far behind, though he did come through the border faster than anyone else with an alledged tactic of 24 hours on/12 hours off. In previous years, Matt Lee has done the Canadian sector in 36 hours, but with this section now under racing conditions alot of racers are bettering that time.
After bad conditions on Saturday and through the night, things have cleared up, and it looks to be a cool and rain-free run for the next few days.
Notes on watching the leaderboard: click your browsers Refresh button to get the most upto date positions. If you cant find someone their blue dot may be covered by someone they are riding with, use the Zoom buttons on the top-left of the map to get right in.

Greetings Fellow 2007 Finisher

Hi Alex

Great to hear your posting and sorry to see you not racing. A few foreigners racing this year including good friend Alan Goldsmith, who broke his thumb two weeks before last year’s race. He’s doing well as are all the others.

Really excited following the race, the blogs, the SPOT leader board (top innovation and great improvement).
I’m racing 900 miles in The Race Against Time which is the full lenge of the United Kingdom. Starting this Sunday and aim to finish in 6 days.
If anyone want to sponsor me for Aids and HIV education work in South Africa please go to my Just Giving page: www.justgiving.com/brucedinsmore

Best wishes Bruce (5th place in 2007)

Alex, thanks for the updates

Alex, thanks for the updates and good info such as the leaderboard tips.

appreciation

Thank you to Alex and Sherry for their invaluable contributions to the monitoring of the race. Means alot to me back here incubating and bored and anxious about my babydaddy. last year this time I was hiking the Tetons! Aargh! Good luck to everyone. Rooting for all in this tough-weather/conditions year.
