Felix Wong Inspired by Messages from Friends

Racer update about:
Hi this is Felix Wong calling at 12:58 from Platoro. I just wanted to thank everybody for their messages. I just listened to them. They are very helpful. About 20 minutes ago when I called in I was feeling very demoralized. Now I'm feeling inspired again. I'm going to press on. Listening to the messages really helped especially since it is still raining and there is thunder and lightening in the distance but I'm going to see what I can do today and I'm going to continue on. Talk to you later. (recorder time: 2008-07-03 14:00:46 EST)

The hearth at the Skyline Lodge

Felix, my aunt owned the Skyline Lodge back in the '70s.

The rumor is the hearth on that fireplace is 10,000 feet MSL.

There probably isn't a fire in there today for you.... too bad. I'll bet you could use it about now.

The climb up La Manga Pass is yet to come, but it's on a paved road, so it shouldn't be too bad. I am very familiar with that climb and have done it myself about a hundred times.

There are a couple of great overlook type views going up to La Manga Pass. The good news is that you're going to see some beautiful scenery.

New Mexico is just on the other side of the pass my man.

Keep the wheels turning!

Keep going strong!

Hang in there, Felix, and be safe! Best wishes to you! You can do it! CB

Felix, it is hard to imagine

Felix, it is hard to imagine how tough it is out there! I know you are doing a great job. Keep up the hard work, you're totally amazing! Stacey

Happy Fourth of July!

Look up to the skies for some fireworks (tomorrow)! Keep going, you're doing AWESOME!

My old stomping grounds

Felix, I can't tell you all the memories that are flooding back into my mind after watching your blue dot traverse the distance from Platoro up La Manga Pass and into New Mexico.

I zoom in on the satellite image of where your blue dot is and can remember so many events of my own that happened at the exact spot your dot appears.

I wish I'd had time to drive up there and do a few miles with you.

Right now, your blue dot appears at the exact spot we used to launch snow mobiles from when we went up there snow-mobiling in the winter.

It's a great area.

I hope you are enjoying it as much as I am as I watch you traverse the area. I am loving it!

Just like Dave Adamson said in the other post...

Remember, it's all downhill from here... uh, except where it isn't.

LOL

Keep your chin up!

You're doing GREAT!
