Mike Dion Cookin' it up in Lima, MT

Hello there this is Mike Dion. Its the 21st, 9 days in at 8:46. I'm at Lima, MT at the Peace Bar, home of the cook your own burger, cook your own steak. So I'm cooking myself up a cheeseburger. Today was a crazy day out on the route. Started in Polaris, MT this morning. Mary and I rolled out there and not too long into it she pulled off and was having some swelling issues which I am sure everyone is aware and I kept rolling on. It got hotter, and hotter and hotter. I started slowing down and slowing down. I started running out of water. Started pulling water out of little creeks where there was a bunch of cows and I am sure those cows were using these creeks as their own private bathroom so anyways good thing for iodine. So I was having lunch under the shade tree and who would roll up but Felix. So I chatted with Felix for a little bit but I was moving so slow in the heat that he ended up pulling away from me. I had only got about 50 miles in today and it was already 2 or 3 in the afternoon or something crazy. I still had another 50 to go. The wind started blowing up in my face and man, I had a bad moment and broke down and started feeling sorry for myself. Just had a really bad time. Started crying a little bit. Then I got to a really steep part and pushed up a hill and started crying a little bit more and started miss my wife. I got to the top of the hill and started looking around and cried again just because it was the most beautiful setting scenery up on the top of this thing. Then got to the top and started cruising down the other side and got in the aero bars actually started doing about 22 miles per hour and the miles started ticking off faster and faster. Actually I made really good time into Lima. Actually got a bunch to drink. I'm drinking an Amber Brown Ale, making myself a cheeseburger. I'm going to crash here tonight, shower up and hopefully tomorrow is going to be a better day. Slow day to today. Alright, bye.

ups and downs

It sounds like this trip is burning great memories from the past and present into your soul. I hope you find the power to reach deep and persevere. (if thats how you spell persevere).
