Felix Wong in a Real Town

Racer update about:

Hi this is Felix Wong calling on Friday, at 12:11 June 20th. I'm calling from Butte. I'm having a great day again. Last night I stayed at a hotel in Basin. Actually, this hotel was more like a rental house. It even had a dryer so I was able to wash my clothes. Had a real bed, modern western flushable toliets. So luxurious. Yes. So had a good night's sleep and came down to Butte and had a great downhill. Much easier than yesterday. I'm so glad. Now I'm actually having a pork chop sandwich here in Butte. This great. Being in a real town. I has been a delight. Read more »

Felix Wong Climbs his way to Basin

Racer update about:

Hi this Felix Wong calling at 9:20 now in Basin, MT. Its Thursday, June 19th. It was just an incredibly difficult day. Every day there has been a difficult climb or multiple difficult climbs. Today was the mother of all climbs. The climb better Helena and Basin was just unbelievable. It was super long, super steep, very sandy, lot of cars passing and kicking up dust. Then at the top it was a very rugged, rough, technical climb and I basically had to walk both up and down that. Yeh, man, uh. Then I got lost by a few miles. Then even on the road back down to Basin. I took a spill once. Read more »

Felix Wong Working Thru Hamstring Issues

Racer update about:

Hi this is Felix Wong calling at 12:45 Thursday, June 19th from Helena, Montana. Yesterday, I had a great day. I was feeling stronger than I ever had been all week and was climbing very well in contrast today has been pretty horrible First I was descending then a bird flew right into my spokes and I think the bird was dead (sorry about that) and then shortly after that I pulled my left hamstring and consequently I had to walk up from the next 2 divide crossings. I thought my life was over. My left hamstring was really in trouble. I thought I popped a vain or something like that. Read more »

Felix Wong in Ovando after 2 Tough Days

Racer update about:

Hi this is Felix Wong. I'm calling on Wednesday, June 18th at about 1:30. I'm finally in Ovando, MT. Monday and Tuesday were pretty tough for me. Monday I was starting to finally feel pretty fatigued. I think I wasn't intaking enough salt. But I solved that my consuming a can of chili beans and potato chips. Started to feel better....But Tuesday, MAN, first there were down trees everywhere. I had to dismount my bike about 100 times and at times even throw my bike over a tree, then scale the trees like it was a rock climbing wall or something. Then there was all of the snow on the Pass. Felix Wong's Epic Day

Racer update about:

Hi this is Felix Wong, calling Monday June 16th at 9:30 calling from Whitefish Montanta. Let me just tell you that yesterday was an absolutely epic day. First of all there was a 25 mile climb, thankful goodness there was not any snow on that but then the 2nd climb, there was about 2 feet of snow and it was absolutely impassable by anything but human feet or maybe grizzly bears if they are dumb enough to go up there. I got there about 10PM and that is where I encountered Kevin Hall. He was in his tent by Red Meadow Lake. Read more »

Felix Wong's 1 minute Border Crossing

Racer update about:

Hi this is Felix Wong, calling at about 11:12AM on Sunday, June 15th. I just wanted to report that I crossed the US/Canadian Border at about 10 o'clock. It took me 1 minute to get across. It helped that there were other riders that came by before me. Other than that, I'm feeling well. I've been riding very conservatively for the last few days. My legs are still pretty fresh. I will probably check in in a couple of days or so. OK, bye.

Felix Wong and Kevin Hall camp out at Barnes Lake

Racer update about:

Hi this is Felix Wong. Calling on Saturday about 10:15 on June 14th. Calling in from Barnes Lake. I actually here with Kevin Hall. We are both camping behind an old church after an absolutely spectacular day of riding. We did 120 miles today and 70 miles yesterday. That is not to say that its been entirely uneventful for myself. Yesterday I was still feeling a little bit under the weather and had a bike mechanical problem, mainly a loose hub but I was able to fix that. The only other mechanical problem I have had so far is a flat tire. Otherwise, its been great riding. Spectacular scenery. Read more »
