Ardie Olson Headed out of Rawlins, WY

Racer update about:
Hey, This is Ardie Olson and it is Tuesday, June 24th at 9:12 AM. I’m in Rawlins, WY and I’m sitting at the table at Square Shooters getting me a mega-breakfast and then I’ve got to find some food for the trail and I’ll be headed out towards, I guess it’s Steamboat that’s next. I don’t know if I’ll quite make it there tonight but we’ll give it a shot. Yesterday was pretty good, I had the wind to my back, I made some good miles. I hope everybody else is doing well. I’m holding up okay, things are hurting but that’s the fun of it. Again this is Ardie Olson, Bye. (recorder time: 2008-06-24 10:14:06 EST.)

go ardie!

Ardie:

You don't know me but i'm a friend of Rob Howell's. I Adventure Race with Jim Kelleher out of Greenville on team GLR. You might remember Jim from races (grey beard, long grey hair)...anyway...

I wanted to send a note of encouragement to say how great a job you are doing and to keep it up. We are envious and in awe of the effort and dedication it takes to do this race!

May all your trails be downhill!

Tailwinds!

Way to crank it Ardie!

Steamboat!

Go Ardie! Keep it up...the pain is only temporary. Good luck on the rest of your ride!

Pain is Good

Oh Ardie, I forgot to mention my favorite saying to pick you up a bit:

"Pain is good. Extreme pain is extremely good." That's what the Navy Seals say! So embrace that pain, it means you are alive !

See ya soon,
LS

go ardie

Your awsome dude keep it up.

Up with the morning sun

Here is our tidbit of motivation:

“Every morning in Africa, an antelope wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion, or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest antelope, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the lion or an antelope – when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.” – African Proverb

Keep having fun!! Jennifer, David, Kenna, Bayley and Catherine

Running

So what does that make Jennifer and me when we run at the lake trail? See you guys soon. Sherry O.

Aspen Alley

8:47PM EST - From comparing SPOT with the Adventure Cycling Maps, I think Ardie is coming up on Aspen Alley now. We really enjoyed that section during our ride last year. Camped in the middle of the huge Aspens. Sherry O.

NO PAIN NO GAIN!!!!

Ardie-

You're doing awesome! I look at the leaderboard and listen to mtbcast probably 20 times a day. It really gives you a small look into what the racers are going through. Keep on Keeping on Ardie!

I went and rode 3 gap yesterday and before I left my wife told me that I was going to summon the power of Ardie. It made me laugh because it takes a huge amount of mental and physical power to do what you are doing. It must have worked because I cut 10 minutes off my previous 3 gap time.

Keep pushing!

Jonathan
