Superfan Todd with more reporting and photos...

From Todd Ison, a fan of the TD and your correspondent on the ground in Island Park, ID...

Kent Peterson, aka "Mountain Turtle," came through here at 8:15 am this bright and sunny Monday morning (see photos below).  He was rested and in good spirits. With good weather he may be able to make it to Jackson Lake in the Grand Teton National Park  today. It appears the last two still standing behind Kent are Patrick Tsai and Shawn Sheppard, who are near the Lime Reservoir, which is about 60 miles from Red Rock Road in Island Park.  They should make good time today, and I anticipate they will be coming through here in about 5 hours from now. I hope to be here to greet them.

Jon Billman and David Tremblay came through Island Park, ID on 06/20/10 around 4:30 pm and 4:45 respectively.  I've attached photos of Jon (light-colored jersey) and David (dark jersey).  The last shot shows David having to come to a stop to avoid the Meadow Vue Ranch's horses trampling him as they cross the road.  You never know what you'll encounter on the TD.

More pics from the Tour Divide.  The first shot is Forest Baker riding solo along Red Rock Road, Island Park, Id.  The second photo is Dave Blumenthal (left) and Eric Nelson at the Subway in Island Park.  These were taken Friday afternoon, June 18.

Actually, Shawn Sheppard's

Actually, Shawn Sheppard's SPOT hasn't really worked since day 1. His last call in was from Flag Ranch in Wyoming. He's already passed Idaho.

I see the next Tour de France...

...Only this time it's not about motorcades and money.

I see it in their eyes and in the landscape.

Challenging, sure, but also a Garden of Eden.

They ride across the valleys and through the little towns. They climb the passes.

Like the early days of the Tour. The few, the proud. They come down and maybe work on their bikes in a blacksmith shop...or a friendly local bike shop. Then they press on into the dust, down the lonely gravel road. Maybe with a pal. Locals wave at them from pastures. So maybe it's not so lonely.

I can picture it.

Go Daves!

SPOT watching the Daves from back east in VT! Nice to see some pics of them. Go Daves!
