MTBCast: Dave Blumenthal passes away from his injuries. Matthew Lee calls in to dedicate the race to his memory. A fire in New Mexico forces a re-route as the official route is closed. This podcast has 3 minutes of silence in memory of Dave.

RIP Dave

Been following my old friend's brother, Aidan, on the blog and the tracker and was saddened to hear of Dave's passing after his accident the other day. What these guys and girls are doing is extraordinary and though it is little consolation to Dave's family, I'm sure, everyone goes into this with their eyes open as off road riding can be dangerous but he was doing what he loved and no amount of preparation can mitigate an accident like that.

My thoughts and best wishes are with the Blumenthal family at this tragic and difficult time, and to all the other riders - stay safe and come home to your families and friends with good memories, stories and aching muscles. I'm sure, like Matthew Lee, they will all be completing the race in Dave's memory.
