Transcription of John's final blog
Apologies, I cannot upload blog in normal way. Here is the transcription of John's final blog before returning home...
Hi everybody, John Fettis here, just signing off from Silver City before travelling home later this afternoon.
It certainly was one amazing journey, Tour Divide this year. Not one I want to repeat in a hurry I have to say!
We've ridden through some awesome mountain and desert scenery, seen all kinds of wildlife and been tested in all conditions along the way. I've ridden with some great guys along the way, and the camaradery we've had has helped us get through any low spots on the route, so that was good.
I'm happy and surprised my body held out with no injuries or illnesses for the full distance - pretty amazed there - and getting to the finish was just a super feeling.
Bike-wise, the Gary Fisher Superfly was pretty faultless throughout - thanks Simon for the help with that one.
We had some great hospitality along the way as well. Special thanks to Cathy at the Pie-oneer at Pie-Town, and also the people in Ovando, especially Chris and Nord for the hospitality that we received there, that was really special.
The bike shops along the way were also fantastic so 'The Outdoorsman' in Bute, 'Orange Peel' at Steamboat, and 'Absolute' at Salida really helped us keep on track, especially after some of the mud that we had to ride through.
Over the last couple of days I've had the chance to read some of the comments on the blog, and that was pretty emotional, so it's really helped to know you are all following back at home and everywhere else. That was great.
Special thanks to Matt Lee for making Tour Divide happen. I think Matt's passion for racing the 'Divide has really been an inspiration for all of us. So cheers Matt for that.
Anyway, can't wait to get back home to my family now, and love you all, so that's it for now.
Cheers,
John.
